Abstract

We demonstrate strong zero-dimensional confinement of the optical field by depositing a few microns sized metallic gold disk on a planar GaAs/AlAs distributed Bragg reflector.

By luminescence experiments we measured confined optical Tamm plasmon modes with a lateral confinement limited to the disk diameter.

Quantum dots of InAs are resonantely coupled to the Tamm plasmons and used to generate zero-dimensional coherent confined phonons by means of pump/probe spectroscopy.

We show that the cavity confined acoustic phonons have an optomechanical coupling rate of 15 THz/nm for the photoelastic detection mechanism and 60 GHz/nm for the interface displacement detection mechanism.
